What people are saying about Louisa’s Walk

Louisa’s Walk was the highlight of my recent visit to Hobart. It leaves from just below the Cascade Brewery and is informative, funny, touching and historic and could be recommended with confidence. When in Hobart next, do yourselves a favour and book yourselves on Louisa’s Walk!
Des, TT Line Representative.

Louisa and her partner transport you back to the 1840′s by a lively strolling theatre, which retells the story of a female convict’s life in Van Diemens Land. It’s a novel, informative and imaginative way to pass an afternoon in the city and highly recommended.

I enjoyed your play and will remember it as one of the most informative and enjoyable experiences of my trip to Australia.

You really take us back and make history live!

“Thank you for the insight and very moving experience of reliving history through the eyes of “female convict” Louisa Regan. Your performance made her story, within the bare walls of the Female Factory, come alive. You have enlightened me to the plight of the women who suffered mercilessly during this period of Australian history. These women deserved to be honoured and you are leading the way with Louisa’s Walk!! Thank you.”

What an amazing and enjoyable way to learn some fascinating history! Our children and ourselves thoroughly enjoyed your performance of this true story. It was interesting, moving and certainly made “history real”, I still think about different parts of it still, even though we saw it, or really I should more properly say ‘experienced it’ 4 weeks ago, at the end of our Tassie family holiday. It really was a highlight of our trip.

Simply unique! This is a thought provoking and insightful experience. An opportunity to walk in Louisa’s shoes and see the harsh existence of a convict’s life in Hobart. We are so glad we took the time to go on Louisa’s Walk!

History is about people & their stories. “Louisa’s Walk” brings history to life & makes the story more believable as it is “Louisa’s” life. This performance made visiting the Female Factory more enjoyable and made the hardships faced by the female convicts more realistic and believable. This is the “best” way to see the Female Factory and a must for people visiting Hobart.

What a great experience! The performance was thought provoking and gave a great insight into the hardships that prevailed for the convict women. It was the best thing we experienced on our trip to Hobart. A very big thank-you!

I took my class ont he Primary School version of Louisa’s Walk and they loved it. By being able to participate the children felt truely part of Louisa’s experience.

“Louisa’s Walk was a really interesting play, where we had to use our imaginations, it went through the Female Factory. There was a man who played 5 characters and a lady who played the convict Louisa. It was a wonderful, true play.” Hannah aged 9.

Louisa’s Walk was wonderful. We did it 11/1/11. It brought the history of the Female Factory alive. It was well organised, clear, and engaging. I would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Hobart.

I loved it! Anyone would enjoy it!

Louisa’s Walk is a captivating story that is beautifully told and acted. It brings to life a part of Hobart’s convict history that is too often overlooked and is a ‘must see’ for visitors and locals of Hobart alike. Thank you for such a memorable and entertaining experience!

My 9 year old daughter and I enjoyed the experience immensely. Neither of us will ever forget this sad history the way it was relived. I’m sure Lucy can now add further information to her teacher’s lessons.

I got a lot out of going to Louisa Walk and going on the jounery of Louisa I really enjoyed the time we spent at the Female Factory. Our class really enjoyed the time with you and I hope we will come back to Louisa’s Walk again soon. This was the most memorable and fantastic experience – best part of our Tassie holiday by a long way. My kids have, as a result, developed such an interest in Australian History, including the convict era. Louisa’s walk was a truly inspiring journey for all of the family, better than any other attractions we saw during the three week trip! I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tassie.

A very enjoyable and insightful journey. The walk was extremely captivating and provided a unique account of one of the many female convicts who are so often overlooked. Definately a high point in our trip to tasmania, we highly reccomend this journey back in time!

We had the pleasure of attending Louisa’s Walk with the Lauderdale Primary School Grade 4 students. What a fantastic way to engage the children with their imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the walk personally and would highly recommend this amazing step back into Tasmania’s convict history. Looking at the children’s faces as their interaction was required at times was fantastic. Simply a wonderful morning had by all. Thanks again.

In May 2012 I had the most wonderful experience in exploring the terrible past and fate of female convicts at the Cascades Female Factory, brought alive by living theatre performance. Transported back in time by these two amazing actors, we walked form the Brewery to the Cascades Female Factory on a suitably dull drizzly day to hear of the trials and tribulations of Louisa, a convict transported for trying to keep her family fed.
This is probably one of the best tours I have taken in Australia , thanks to the imagination and creativity of the owners of the business. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is in Tasmania for a holiday. Take your children, so they can be transported back in time and learn in a fun , memorable way.
