Don’t you just love the South Hobart Tip Shop? Congratulations to the new facility it’s so much better organised and easy to find stuff!
We have been commissioned by Cambridge Primary School to help them celebrate their 150th anniversary and they have asked for thirteen of our The Old School performances. This posed no problem except our show usually targets Grades Three/Four and we were being asked to perform for the whole school from Kinder through to Grade 6. The bigger kids are no problem they will get an old fashioned Spelling Bee to end the session, but the Infant Grades?
We decided we would tell them a story and perhaps use some puppets? I had to visit the Tip Shop to look for plant containers and there I saw a delightful velvet horse puppet. He had seen better days – yes- but we needed him to look old anyway! I bought him on the spot and I had a focus for my story: Duffy the Carthorse was born. Don’t you love him? We will trial him on the first performance of The Old School at Cambridge tomorrow – wish us luck!
