Happy Birthday to us we are eight years old today! It seems hard to believe that eight years ago, on this day, we took our first Louisa’s Walk out. I distinctly remember taking two Irish girls on the show and thinking “Oh, no, will they bag my accent?” (they didn’t!).
We had no idea, back then, how popular the concept of telling history via Strolling Theatre would become. If you had told us, back then, we would be employing other actors on a regular basis to help with the business, we wouldn’t have believed you. But, we are!
It seems appropriate that today of all days we should take out two separate groups from Somerset College. The school (from the Gold Coast) comes every year as part of their winter camp and to experience snow (we gave them plenty of that on Mount Wellington this week!). This is their seventh year of visiting us and hearing Louisa’s story.
For the first time Chris and I did the first show (with around 60 students) and Bryony and Colin were ready at the Brewery to take the second show as we finished. In the old days Chris and I would race back up to the top and perform a back-to-back. How lovely to share these wonderful students and their teachers. Always a pleasure Somerset!
